NEDUMNGAD GOVERNMENT COLLEGE OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (NEDCOSA)

The concept of alumni association evolved for needs from both the ends, i.e. academicians and professionals, in the aim of building a bridge between college life and career life, so that the fresher graduates are made proactive to face the current challenges of competitive professional world. Both the ends shall work hand in hand to help each other for achieving the goal. The idea took shape and formation of Alumni Association turned into reality.

The Alumni Association of Govt. College Nedumangadu has been working from its inception itself i.e. 1981. But it has formally registered on the 26th January 2018, named as NEDUMNGAD  C0LLEGE OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (NEDCOSA).

 

OUR MISSION

  • To re-unite in the nest from where we grew and flew off.
  • To provide financial and other support to the existing students from weaker sections of society.
  • To build a bridge between college life and career life, so as introduce present students to the professional world and to make them proactive to face the challenges that may emerge in their career path.
  • To provide job opportunities to fresh bachelors through references of professionals.
  • To conduct orientation and training programs to students on various topics to enhance their skills.
  • To create awareness among students about the scope of their subject in the professional world.
  • To provide a platform for students to develop their qualities.
  • To participate in social welfare activities for social accountability.

PLAN OF ACTION

 

  • Conducting periodic meetings of the committee to chalk out plan of action.
  • Conducting training sessions on industry practices and professional approach by industry professionals.
  • Conducting personality development trainings, interview answering skills and confidence building programs.
  • Interacting with unemployed ex- students to find probability of employment with reference of professionals.
  • Conducting social welfare activities such as blood donation, health awareness programs, tree plantation, cleanliness drive etc.
  • Re-unions of ex- students.
  • Felicitation of achievers

Annual Report 2017-18

The annual general body meeting for the year 2017-18, named “Orikkalkoodi- back to Campus” was held on 8th April 2017 at Seminar hall, Govt. college Nedumangad. This function was inaugurated by the famous film Director Shri. P Sreekumar. The Welcome Address was delivered by Mr. Shinu. Felicitation was given by Dr. Mini.I (Principal, Govt. college Nedumangad). A video presentation comprising of the previous Alumni meet, together with memorable photos of the programmes in the college provided a nostalgic feeling which was well acknowledged. This was followed by a programme “Guruvandanam”, 45 teachers honoured with momentos, which was the most important event of the Alumni Meet. Inauguration session conclude at 11.30 am. Class Room Session (reintroduction of old class room) started at 11.45 am. Classes leaded by our former teachers namely Prof. Pushpangathan (English) and Prof. Utharamcodu Shashi. “Varthamanan” (batch wise discussions) session started at 12.30 pm and concluded at 1.15 pm. After lunch break arts club session started at 2 pm, various cultural programmes arranged by former students of this college. This one day alumni programme concluded at 4.30 pm. Around 600 former students participated in this programme.

Executive Committee of NEDCOSA meets every month, discuss various issues faced by students studying in our college. Decided to take over the educational expenditure of students from poor family and identified one student and Keerthi A.K, (Second year B.Com Student) is selected for this scheme. Now educational expenditure of this student is met from alumni fund.

A Blood Donation Camp was organised by NEDCOSA on 15th august 2018 at Govt. College Nedumangad in association with General Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.
