Anti-Narcotic Club

Objectives

  • To ensure a drug free campus
  • To engage the students in anti- narcotic activities
  • To motivate students to become volunteers of anti-narcotic activities in their life.
  • To enable every student of the college to be goal oriented and innovative in protecting oneself and others against drugs and alcohol

Activities

  • Excise department in association with antinarcotics cell and NCC conduct awaremess as a part of the clean campus-safe campus programme on issues like ‘abusive side of narcotics, drug addiction, law system and related topics.
  • Ensured no sale of tobacco/narcotic products inside the premises and within the radius of 100 yards from the college.
  • Conducting Anti-drug rallies
  • Conducting poster presentation on the shocking health effects of narcotics.
  • Inspection of the anti narcotics cell at the college campus and the premises.
  • Arrange sports competitions in the campus to educate the role of Anti-drug activities.
  1. Activities Conducted During 2018-19

            The Club has conducted an anti-narcotic awareness class on 7th December 2018 at Seminar hall, Govt. college Nedumngadu.  This Programme was inaugurated by our college principal Dr. I. Mini and after that  awareness classes taken by Shri. V. Anilkumar, Excise Preventive Officer, Excise Circle Office Nedumangadu.  One hundred and forty students participated in this awareness class. This programme was very attractive and helpful for students in understanding the evil effects of drug abuse. The programme was concluded at 1.00 pm.

  1. Activities Conducted During 2017-18

            A hand written magazine competition on “Evil effects of narcotics” was organised by the Anti-narcotic Club, Govt. College Nedumngadu, on 20th June 2017. Students from various departments actively participated in this competition. Selected creatures of students were compiled together and submitted to Excise Department for participating in District level competition organised by Excise Department, Govt. of Kerala.

            The Club has also make necessary arrangement for valedictory function of  “Vimukthi – A plan of drug free campus” organised by Municiapality, Nedumangadu in association with Excise Department, Govt. of Kerala on 7th February 2017. This function was Inaugurated by Hon. Deputy Commissioner of Excise,  Shri. K. Chandrapal and presided by Shri. P. Harikeshan Nair, Health standing committee chairman,  Municiapality, Nedumangadu. In connection with this programme an Anti-narcotic poster presentation was conducted. This poster presentation was inaugurated by Shri. Chettachal Sahadevan, Chairman, Municipality Nedumngadu.  Followed by an awareness class leaded by Shri. Rajan Amburi. In this programme around 400 students of this college participated and also took anti-narcotic pledge. This programme was very attractive and students got a lot of information about various diseases as a result of drug abuse.

            In addition to this members of this club namely Aswathy VS ( II year B.A Economics, Arya A.G  and Fathima Bismi ( III year B.A Economics) were participated in the quiz competition for College students on “Evil effects of narcotics” organised by Karunasayi, De-addiction Centre, vellanadu on 15th August 2017.

            Govt. college Nedumangadu has also organised “Shasthrayan-2018” on 8th & 9th March 2018 in association with Govt, of Kerala. In this programme our Club members arranged poster presentation and distribute pamphlet on adverse effect of drug abuse. This stall was very useful to students and public.

III.      Activities Conducted During 2016-17

            The Club has conducted an anti-narcotic awareness class on 07/03/2017 at Seminar hall, Govt. college Nedumngadu.  This Programme was inaugurated by our college principal Dr. D.K Sathish and followed by awareness classes taken by Shri. V. Anilkumar, Excise Preventive Officer.  Two hundred and forty five students participated in this awareness class. This programme was very helpful for students in understanding the evil effects of drug abuse. The programme was concluded at 1.15 pm.

            A poster presentation on “Evil effects of narcotics” was organised by the Anti-narcotic Club on 24th March 2017. This programme was also inaugurated by our college principal. Club members creatures around 45 posters presented in this programme.  It provides the students a vivid and clear picture of evil effects of narcotics.

  1. Activities Conducted During 2015-16

Anti-narcotic Club has conducted a Quiz Competition on “Evil Effects of Anti-narcotics” on 15th August 2016 at Seminar Hall Govt. college Nedumngadu.  Eighteen teams were participated and M.Com students of our college became the winner of this quiz competition.
