Department Activities

# The Department of English started a blog “We Listen… We Speak…“on the WordPress platform. The inauguration of the blog was held on 25th September 2019 at the college auditorium by the Principal Dr. Thara G S in the presence of staff and students. The students are provided with a space for creative expression. As part of the English learning, students have recorded their curricular and extra-curricular activities in the blog. Scripts and records of real life interviews, surveys etc. feature in the blog.

# The students of the BCom conducted as series of interviews with scholars and field experts on the debate around Gadgil Report and the Kerala floods.

# The Department of English conducted online teaching -learning activities during the COVID – 19 Lockdown period (April-May2020); conducting online classes, meetings, collaborative activities and videos. Students enthusiastically took part in these activities.

# The students of BSc Mathematics conducted a statewide online survey as part of the practical application of Questionnaire preparation. The survey was ‘Assessment of the Socioeconomic Scenario During Stage One of the COVID-19 Lockdown. The survey questions were formulated in the online class discussions and the online survey was conducted with the help of Google Forms. The results were published its results in the Department blog as well as on You Tube as Corona Survey @ Kerala on TechWorldThink channel and Drama Club channel,during the lockdown period in May 2020.

# Under the guidance of Smt. Asha C. (Asst Professor of English, Dept of English and Co-ordinator of Drama Club) students collaborating with the Drama Club, conducted a series of interviews with people from different countries and states to contribute to a video series named Quarantine Stories on TechWorldThink Channel and Drama Club channel.

#A study on the history of pandemics was done and in collaboration with the Drama Club and Department of History, was published as a video History of the Pandemic on You Tube. The videos were published on YouTube channels TechWorldThink and Drama Club channels during the lockdown period in April- May 2020.

#A study of the economic scenario in the aftermath of COVID-19 19 was attempted and in collaboration with Drama Club and the Department of Economics a video Economics in Times of the Pandemic was published on YouTube channels TechWorldThink and Drama Club channel.

#Organized a National Seminar on ‘Hundred Years of Indian Cinema: Perspectives from Diverse Angles’ from December 1-3 2013. (Sponsored by DCE, Government of Kerala).The seminar was inaugurated by Bharath Suresh Gopi. The seminar provided a platform for film lovers to discuss and debate the history, politics and ideology of Indian Cinema, the culture it carries, its influences and its place in world cinema.
