LANGUAGE LAB
Language lab, an audio-visual installation, is used as a mode for teaching and learning processes. It is developed on the methodology of LSRW and soft skills. The multimedia based language lab allows the facilitator to monitor each learner to learn, to record, to compare and to improve the language skills. The ability of each student to speak at the same time and yet be audibly isolated from each other allows efficient use of time and a higher degree of practice and learning in the language lab. This increases the students’ fluency and encourages their confidence for interaction and presentation in various contexts.
The department of English has a well planned language lab for encouraging the linguistic skills of students. From 2013 onwards our institution has been giving special attention to students to ensure maximum exposure to English language through various online resources, with the help of desktops provided by the Department of Physics and Computer Applications. In 2018 our institute has received twenty desktops and a teacher laptop with the latest version of ETNL, a self-paced learning software. It is used as a means to remedial teaching for the selected students from each department, History, Economics, Maths, Malayalam, B Com and PCA.
Report of the Activities of Language Lab, 2020- 21
2020- 21, an unexpected year of pandemic and lockdowns limited the functioning of language lab of our institution. Because of the Covid protocol students were limited inside the campus and in classes, so that we could not conduct regular lab hours for them. In order to compensate this limitation, along with online classes supplementary materials were provided to develop the language skills of the learners.
